SUMMARY FOR JANUARY 2012: There were no warned systems in WPAC in January following
last year's disastrous close in the Philippines which is below normal for all categories but not necessarily
unusual. . The Monsoon Trough was seasonably with a stronger than normal Trade regime courtesy of
the rejuvenated La Niña. The SCS is hostile to development due to shear and the NE Monsoon this
time of year.
